IMPORTANT: this role is not for stand-up comedians. We are specifically looking for actors or scripted performers who are comfortable delivering supplied material as written. No stand-up experience is required. This is not an improvisation, joke-writing, or punch-up role. I'm looking for a Vancouver-based performer for a simple paid comedy performance experiment. I'll give you a finished 3 to 4 minute stand-up comedy set that I wrote, and you'll perform it at a specific established Vancouver open mic. The venue details will be provided privately to the selected performer. The venue allows phone recordings of performances. What you'll do - Receive a finished 3 to 4 minute comedy set in advance - Go to the specified Vancouver open mic - Sign up with the person at the door - Perform the material as written, without adding/replacing jokes or going off-script - Cue cards, printed pages, or notes are completely fine – memorization is not required - Record the full performance with clear audio/video, or have someone record it for you - Send me the footage afterward You do not need to stay for the entire open mic. Once you've performed and captured the footage, you're done. Pay $50 CAD flat per completed performance/test. *If the first test goes well, there may be additional paid one-off performances available weekly or potentially multiple nights per week. Current Open-Mic Times The open mic currently runs: Tuesday – approximately 9:30 PM to 11:30 PM Wednesday – approximately 9:30 PM to 11:30 PM Thursday – approximately 9:30 PM to 11:30 PM These nights run every week so we can choose whichever date works for you. You simply arrive, sign up, wait until the host calls you, perform the set, record it, and you're done. Who This Could Be Good For - You do NOT need to be an experienced stand-up comedian. - Actors, theatre performers, scripted performers, content creators, hosts, public speakers, or anyone comfortable performing supplied material as written are welcome. The point is not to see who can write or improvise the best jokes. I'm testing how already-written material performs when delivered by different people. Agreement / Footage Before performing, you'll sign a short electronic agreement confirming the basic terms: - You're being paid $50 CAD for the performance - The comedy material is written/provided by me - A clear phone-quality recording of the full performance will be provided afterward - I may use the resulting footage - You won't independently post the footage or reuse the supplied comedy material elsewhere Nothing complicated – just making the terms and ownership clear beforehand. PLEASE INCLUDE IN YOUR EMAIL: - Which Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday night could you do this? - Are you comfortable performing a supplied 3 to 4 minute comedy set word-for-word using cue cards/notes if needed? - Can you get a clear phone recording and clear audio of the full performance?
