Wide variety of photographic equipment can be found on line - unfortunately, most will suffer from common or age-related problems. As a user or collector, you should be certain that the item you are buying is in good working condition. I will not hide behind such statements as "Was OK when put away three years ago" and "Not sure if it works, but the shutter clicks and all the dials turn". Please read the whole text carefully and rest assured that this item was thoroughly checked and is accurately described. SHARP, FAST and BUILT LIKE a TANK - from TIMES when LENSES WERE BUILT from STEEL, BRASS and ALUMINIUM. THIS IS the MUCH SOUGHT AFTER 'S.C.' SINGLE COATED VERSION of the LENS. VIA ADAPTERS, WONDERFUL LENS for DSLRs, MICRO 4/3, SONY NEX, FUJI X-SERIES, NIKON 1 SYSTEM and OTHER MIRRORLESS CAMERAS. Canon FD 1.8/50mm S.C. lens - when originally introduced, this was a newly designed high performance standard lens to complement Canon's flagship cameras of the time - the FTb, F-1, AE-1 and A-1. It was a new luxury Gauss type lens which used new type of optical glass with six-element / four-group construction. This is one of Canon's greatest lenses - I used to have its rangefinder version and used it on my Leica M-4 with results pretty close to the Leica Summicron and Summilux. It has high contrast, sharp resolving power, and optimum color balance; because of its high performance it was considered a benchmark for the next series of Canon FD and EOS lenses. This lens has Canon's original self-locking FD breech-lock mount, more secure to use than the later FD bayonet mount (both mounts are fully compatible with all FD and FL mount cameras). Will fit all manual focusing Canon bodies - including Pellix, FT, FTb, FTbn, F-1, TL, AE-1, AE-1 Program, AL-1, AT-1, AV-1, A-1, T-50, T-70, T-90 and others. PLEASE NOTE that FD Mount lenses will NOT fit Canon EOS and DSLR bodies without an adapter. Many digital photographers are discovering the special optical qualities of these classic legacy lenses and are adapting them to the latest DSLR and Mirrorless Cameras. When used with DSLRs, Sony NEX, Fuji X-Series, Nikon 1 System and other 1.5x crop factor Mirrorless cameras, this becomes a fast f:1.8/75mm portrait lens. On Panasonic and Olympus Micro 4/3 system and other 2x crop factor Mirrorless cameras - a superb f:1.8/100mm equivalent, ideal for portrait or landscape photography. Adapter will be needed - please use a Canon FD adapter for your specific camera. The lens is in wonderful condition with only superficial signs of use. Focusing action is smooth and fluid; there is no oil on the aperture blades, no haze or scratches on the optics. Automatic aperture mechanism operates correctly; diaphragm blades are clean and snappy. Focusing mount has no dents or dings; filter mount has no dents and accepts filters effortlessly. Includes front and rear lens caps.
