I'm looking for a cinematographer interested in collaborating on a no-budget independent feature film this summer in Los Angeles. This is not a paid gig. There is no financing attached and no promises being made. This is a passion project being created outside the traditional system by filmmakers who want to make something honest, ambitious, and deeply personal. The film is a queer drama exploring themes of grief, identity, family, immigration, belonging, friendship, and the pursuit of creative dreams. The visual approach will be intimate and naturalistic, relying primarily on available light, practical locations, and a very small crew — and in some cases, no crew beyond the core collaborators. The goal is to create something raw, immediate, and emotionally truthful rather than polished or conventional. The project is being developed from an outline rather than a completed screenplay. My writing partner and I will continue writing and shaping the story throughout production. I realize that's an unconventional process and won't be for everyone, but I'm looking for collaborators who are excited by experimentation, improvisation, and discovery. This would be a great fit for: • A cinematographer looking to shoot their first feature • A film student or recent graduate wanting feature experience • Someone interested in guerrilla-style filmmaking • Anyone who loves intimate, character-driven stories If interested, send a little about yourself, links to any work you've shot, and what draws you to independent filmmaking. I understand this approach won't be for everyone, and that's okay. We're simply looking for collaborators who are excited by experimentation and who would rather spend their summer making a film than waiting for the perfect opportunity to come along. No budget. No investors. No production company. Just filmmakers trying to create something meaningful together.
