I'm a NYC-based writer-performer-producer seeking a hands-on Development & Fundraising Producer for an independent theater/comedy project that recently received fiscal sponsorship through Fractured Atlas and will have New York festival performances this November. The immediate scope is intentionally contained. I am not looking for someone to run a full-scale fundraising campaign from now through November. The goal is to establish the project's initial fundraising infrastructure, strengthen the donor-facing materials, and execute a small initial donor outreach campaign around the fall performances. This is a hands-on role, not an advisory-only consulting position. I'm looking for someone who can both help shape the initial strategy and carry out the execution — setting up systems, preparing materials, organizing prospects, conducting initial outreach/follow-up, and helping move the first donor campaign forward. This is an initial paid pilot engagement beginning in August 2026 and running through November 30, 2026. The core fundraising infrastructure should ideally be in place by early to mid-October so donor outreach can build momentum leading into the November performances, followed by a brief post-performance campaign wrap-up. Responsibilities may include: Reviewing and optimizing the existing Fractured Atlas donation/fundraising page Helping clarify the project's fundraising story and donor-facing messaging Developing a simple, realistic fall donor outreach plan Creating donor email and personal-outreach templates Identifying and organizing realistic warm donor prospects and potential donor communities Building and maintaining a simple donor/prospect tracker Helping execute the initial donor outreach campaign Managing basic outreach follow-up and keeping the donor tracker current Advising on how and when to publicly introduce and promote the fiscal sponsorship Helping determine realistic goals for the initial donor campaign Establishing a manageable thank-you and donor-stewardship process Helping with post-performance donor follow-up and campaign wrap-up Reviewing what worked, what didn't, and what should happen next Identifying potential future sponsorship and development opportunities where appropriate Creating a basic roadmap for a larger fundraising/development strategy after the November performances Ideal candidate: Has previous experience in nonprofit arts development, independent theater fundraising, individual giving, donor campaigns, fiscal sponsorship, or related development work Familiarity with Fractured Atlas or a similar fiscal-sponsorship model is strongly preferred Understands fundraising for independent artists and small creative projects, not only large institutions Strategic thinker who can see both the immediate campaign needs and the longer-term development opportunities for the project. Comfortable developing strategy, making recommendations, and then executing the agreed plan Enjoys donor outreach, relationship-building, and helping artists communicate why their work is worth supporting Strong written communicator and organized thinker Able to build practical systems without unnecessarily overcomplicating them Comfortable moving work forward independently without constant supervision Experience with theater, comedy, independent film, Black arts, African-diaspora, immigrant/first-generation, or culturally specific projects is a plus Interested in helping build an independent artistic project during an active stage of growth Location: NYC-area applicants strongly preferred. New York City, Northern New Jersey, Connecticut, and nearby applicants are welcome. Much of the work can be done remotely, but familiarity with the NYC arts and fundraising ecosystem is preferred, particularly because there may be an opportunity for the relationship to grow beyond this initial engagement. Compensation: This is a paid short-term pilot engagement with a modest guaranteed project fee. Please include your proposed flat project fee for the outlined setup, initial donor outreach, and campaign wrap-up with your application. The project is in an active growth phase and recently received fiscal sponsorship through Fractured Atlas. I'm looking for someone who may be excited to build with it at this stage. The immediate fall scope is deliberately contained. After the November performances, there may be an opportunity to expand into a more substantial paid development/fundraising role — including larger donor cultivation, sponsorship strategy, partnerships, and longer-term fundraising planning — if the collaboration is successful, mutually aligned, and the project continues to grow. This is a freelance independent-contractor engagement. Selected candidate must be comfortable signing an Independent Contractor Agreement and providing a completed W-9 before beginning work. Additional information about the project will be shared with selected candidates during the interview process. To apply, please send: Your résumé A brief introduction and why this type of work interests you 1–2 examples of relevant fundraising, development, fiscally sponsored, individual-giving, or nonprofit-arts projects you've worked on A brief description of what you personally handled on those projects and any results Your current location Your availability through November 30 Your proposed flat project fee for the initial scope A few sentences about what you would prioritize first for a newly fiscally sponsored independent performing-arts project preparing for November performances Please use the subject line: Development & Fundraising – Application
