Editor for Narrative Anime Project (Bushwick) Brooklyn
Jobs

Small animation studio in Bushwick is hiring an editor. Part-time, roughly 30 hours a week, onsite. $25-$32/hr depending on experience. Starting as soon as we find the right person. We produce original animated series and shorts using an AI-assisted pipeline. The work is narrative: characters, scenes, story. We need someone who can take a sequence from raw generation through to a finished cut without losing the thread. THE WORK You would own scenes end to end: generating shot material, deciding what survives, and assembling it into something with pacing, escalation, and a point of view. Most days are half generation, half edit bay. - Generate shot material and iterate until it serves the scene, not the other way around - Cut sequences in DaVinci Resolve: timing, rhythm, transitions, sound sync - Make coverage decisions: what we need, what we can cheat, what to throw out - Keep continuity and tone consistent across a series, not just a single clip - Turn work around fast without the cut looking rushed WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Above everything: you can edit a narrative sequence. Not a montage, not a highlight reel. A scene where the cuts carry story. A director's eye does not come second. You should be able to say why a shot is not working and what would fix it. - Editing experience with narrative sequences, in any format: film, short, spec, student work - Basic working proficiency in DaVinci Resolve. We are not asking for a colorist - Deep anime literacy. You know the medium's grammar and have opinions about it - Taste, which is the hardest thing to teach and the thing we weight most heavily ABOUT THE CONTENT Read this part before you apply. The projects we put you on WILL vary, but it is worth noting that at present time, most of our current projects are satire, and it is deliberately provocative. The work takes shots at politics, media, and internet culture from angles that would not clear a brand safety review, and some of it is going to offend somebody by design. That is the point of the format, not an accident of it. We aim at every side. Left, right, our own audience, ourselves. Nobody here is asked to hold a particular set of politics, and nobody gets to bring a side of the aisle they will not point the camera at. What we need is an editor who can work on that material without flinching and who is fine with their work living on a channel that draws heat. If that sounds like a problem, better that you know now. WHO THIS IS FOR Filmmakers, hopefully anime nerds, with a narrative background who want to build a career at the front of AI production. Prior AI-pipeline experience is preferred but not required. We can teach the tooling. We cannot teach you how to see.
