The FE is such a great camera - i think it offers the best balance and value of everything out of the FE/FE2/FM/FM2. Everything you need and nothing you don't. Even has some nice QOL things over the much more expensive FE2 like battery check light, retractable meter tab for use with Non-AI lenses (which will damage the FE2 if mounted), and an easier to use on/off meter - when the advance lever is pulled out the meter is on - with the FE2 it needs to be pulled out and then shutter half pressed and keeps going off automatically and you need to keep reactivating it. Preference for sure, but i prefer this one. Anecdotally, while the titanium honeycomb shutter in the FE2 and other models is excellent and fast, the one in this is arguably more robust and tolerant of abuse. Condition wise it has some use but is in really great shape. Very clean overall, maybe some minor scuffing on a couple of the edges, minor scratching on bottom. Mirror and viewfinder are in great shape save for an expected amount of dust for cameras of this age that were well cared for. Advance lever and shutter are silky smooth. For whatever reason the levers on the FE's ive used have been insanely smooth and easy to wind, like barely have to flick your thumb. Shutter speeds sound accurate, meter works well and is accurate. DOF preview, timer, exposure comp, all work. Only minor quibble is that while the multiple exposure lever works, it does not spring back automatically. To be clear it works fine for double exposures, you just have to make sure you push it back forward after use or it won't wind film until you do. IMO - this is the close to the best value SLR if you want to step above the more consumer oriented ones, at least for nikon. High quality enough to never be lacking but cheap enough to bring it all over and not have to baby it. local pickup in atlanta or shipped CONUS for $10. Thanks!
