FEATURE FILM CASTING – LEAD ACTORS Psychological / Historical Drama Title: FORTY An independent feature film is seeking experienced actors for two lead roles in an intimate dramatic adaptation inspired by the forty days in the Judean wilderness. This is not a traditional biblical epic. The film is a quiet, character-driven psychological drama centered on conversation, philosophy, and the human experience. The story unfolds almost entirely between two men alone in the wilderness. Actors with strong dramatic instincts and the ability to convey emotion through subtle performance are encouraged to submit. LEAD ROLE #1 – JESUS OF NAZARETH Male Age: 28–40 Ethnicity: Middle Eastern / Mediterranean appearance preferred (historically authentic look encouraged) Seeking an actor capable of portraying extraordinary inner strength through restraint rather than theatricality. This interpretation presents Jesus as thoughtful, compassionate, intelligent, and deeply human. The performance requires emotional depth, quiet confidence, humility, and the ability to communicate profound ideas with very few words. No previous experience portraying biblical characters is necessary. Performance qualities: Excellent listener Calm presence Strong dramatic actor Comfortable with long dialogue scenes Minimalist acting style Ability to carry silence on camera LEAD ROLE #2 – THE STRANGER Male Age: 45–70 Seeking an exceptional dramatic actor with commanding screen presence. The Stranger is intelligent, charismatic, humorous, compassionate, mysterious, and emotionally complex. Throughout the film he challenges Jesus through philosophical conversation rather than intimidation. This is not a stereotypical villain. The role requires an actor capable of conveying immense intelligence, subtle wit, vulnerability, heartbreak, and quiet authority. Think less "movie villain" and more an ancient philosopher carrying a deep personal wound. Performance qualities: Exceptional dialogue delivery Strong theatrical or classical background a plus Warm charisma Ability to shift between kindness and intensity Rich voice Excellent with subtext SHOOT INFORMATION Independent Feature Film Character-driven drama Dialogue-heavy performances Limited cast Beautiful natural desert locations TO SUBMIT Please send: • Headshot • Resume • Demo Reel (if available) • Recent photograph • Contact information Selected actors will receive screenplay excerpts ("sides") for audition. Please include "FORTY CASTING" in the subject line.
