I'm an LA-based filmmaker/director/editor looking for a junior editor to start collaborating with me on documentary and cinematic branded projects. I'm primarily looking for someone early in their career who has good creative instincts — story, pacing, music, performance, knowing when a shot feels right — and wants an opportunity to work on larger professional projects and grow into more responsibility over time. Initially, you'd be helping me get projects off the ground editorially: organizing/selecting footage, working through interviews, building stringouts and rough cuts, searching for stock or other visual material, trying music, and generally getting an edit far enough along that I can jump in and take it through the more detailed creative process and finish. Premiere proficiency is important. I'm not particularly concerned with how many years you've been doing this. I'd much rather find someone young in their career with great taste and interesting work than someone with ten years of experience making videos I don't connect with. I'd ideally like to find someone local to Los Angeles who can occasionally work alongside me at my editing setup in mid LA, particularly at the beginning and then move to remote once we're familiar with a flow. This is freelance/as-needed to start, but I have multiple projects coming through and would love for it to turn into an ongoing collaboration with the right person. Rate: $30–35/hr depending on experience. If interested, send me: * A short note about yourself * Where you're based * A reel or 2–3 pieces you're proud of * Your experience with Premiere / After Effects * Your general availability Please don't send a giant formal cover letter. I'd mostly like to see your work and get a sense of who you are. Thanks! John https://www.robinsonhope.com
