THE PROJECT: An upcoming new movie exploring the undocumented immigrant experience in NYC. The movie is ready, imagine an indie made with a lot of sacrifices (as most indies are.) We have already close to 10k+ followers on Instagram with a unique marketing strategy. We probably have the largest following for a movie of its class for this year. We have a top-tier PR / publicity firm in Manhattan onboard. Our distribution model is unique. We pledge 50% of the Producer's Share to immigrant advocacy organizations. Buying a ticket is more than entertainment; it's an act of solidarity. We are also bypassing the usual film festival route to reach the audience and/or sales/distribution. THE MISSION: We are looking for a Head of Field Operations to lead our distribution strategy for our theatrical release this July. You are not sitting behind a desk all day. You are the one who connects the Movie to the Movement. WHO YOU ARE: A "Hungry" Operator: You might be an Assistant Booker, a Festival Coordinator, or a Grassroots Political Campaigner looking to break into the media space, distribution and bring new ideas and strategies in that realm. Connected: You know the difference between the Angelika and the IFC Center. You know which NGOs in Queens actually mobilize people. Fearless: You can pick up the phone and pitch a venue manager or walk into a community center to set up a partnership. Strategic: You understand that filling a theater requires both "digital noise" and "boots on the ground." CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: NGO Outreach: Build coalitions with NYC and National immigrant advocacy groups to turn their mailing lists and supporters into ticket buyers. Theatrical Booking: Pitch and secure "Anchor Screens" and beyond. You will be the direct point of contact for theaters/theater programmers. Event Management: If required, coordinate "Civic Cinema" Town Halls and panel discussions for opening weekend. Producer assistance: Assist in other distribution related activities like online campaign activities, monitoring social media campaigns, digital print scheduling and delivery etc. Street Team Ops: Manage the distribution of digital and non-digital assets. REQUIREMENTS: Ideally based in NYC as the movie is mostly set in a borough of NYC. Prior experience in Film Distribution, Event Production, Political Canvassing or similar areas. Strong written communication (you will be drafting pitch emails to major venues). Legally authorized to work in the US. TO APPLY: Please reply with your Resume and a brief cover letter (200 words max). If we like your profile, we will get back, give details on the film, and request you to imagine a few ideas on why a theater should book the film, and one creative idea to get people off their couches and into the theater in July. Put "CIVIC CINEMA - [Your Name]" in the subject line.
