I'm looking for a talented cinematographer (ideally young, with a flexible schedule) who is available for consistent freelance work in the Los Angeles area. There is also travel work if you end up being interested/a good fit. We pay anywhere from $300 to $1500 a day, but a day is almost never a full day. Sometimes it's two hours. Sometimes we go to the bar after. Sometimes we go to the bar before and get a little carried away and postpone the whole thing until the next day. Ideally you'd have the skill/experience to shoot both scripted and documentary-style stuff with a very lean team (yourself and me). If you're a good fit and local, there is a good chance I'd want to work with you on feature documentaries in the future. Shoot them on spec. So you have to be the type of person who films what you enjoy, not just what pays you. And you need to be down to earth. I usually work with only one cameraman who knows the sound side of things as well. Someone who doesn't mind doing whatever. Half the time I'm holding the boom while directing. If you're used to working on big sets with 100 morons and a meaningless hierarchy, this probably isn't for you.We never get permits. We wing just about everything. But the goal is not to sacrifice quality. Hence this ad. I am trying to up my quality while staying lean. I also have multiple cameras and sound equipment of my own (Canon C50, an old RED, Senn mics, etc) that we have access to. Send an email or text me with a brief breakdown of who you are and what your experience is. Include a reel if you have one. Godspeed.
