We are assembling a small, highly selective writing team for a new sketch comedy environmental series produced by award-winning filmmaker Jon Amiel. This is a rare opportunity to build a show from the ground up, work directly alongside an established director with decades of feature film and television experience, and help shape the voice, characters, and comedic tone of an entirely new format. THE SHOW Imagine Weekend Update meets John Oliver meets The Onion. We're done with the fear-based approach to climate action! Audiences want to laugh and engage in entertaining content more than anything, so why not plug our shared environmental crisis into the mix? This environmental sketch comedy show will explore field interviews, real-time news bits, comedy ads, and skits through the eyes of earnest newscasters who are hilariously amateur and comically "click-baity." Everyone is in on the joke except the newscasters themselves. The humor comes from: -Earnest but painfully out-of-touch newscasters/field interviewers -Awkward live moments and off-script mistakes -Breaking the fourth wall through behind-the-scenes chaos -Recurring segments with oddball characters -Everyone being in on the joke except the anchors themselves Think credibility collapsing in real time. RECURRING SEGMENTS INCLUDE -Field reporters interviewing people who have no idea why they're protesting -Video reactions and fake expert panels -A Gen Z host clashing with legacy news energy -Letters to the Editor -Boomer Corner -And more WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR -Comedy writers with a strong voice -Comfortable pitching character-driven bits and sketch concepts -Sharp about media, culture, and absurdity -Interested in environmental storytelling without preachiness -Writers with experience in sketch, digital comedy, late-night style formats, or experimental narrative are especially encouraged. WHY THIS IS DIFFERENT -Direct collaboration with Jon Amiel, director of The Walking Dead, Once Upon a Time, Copycat, Entrapment! -Early involvement in a show designed for growth and visibility -A writers room where ideas turn into filmed segments -Resume building and exposure through multiple streaming networks and social media platforms If you're ready to be involved in a show from the ground up at a time that works for you, this is that opportunity!
