PAID DP/EDITOR WANTED — ESSENCE Short Film | Atlanta Deonte' Bolden Productions is seeking a creative and collaborative Director of Photography / Editor for ESSENCE, a character-driven independent short film. THE STORY Essence Whitaker is a gifted Black Atlanta radio host, writer, jazz lover, woman of faith, and wheelchair user. On air, she encourages others to recognize their worth. Off air, she quietly fears the world will see her disability before it sees the woman she is. When that fear leads Essence to use another woman's photograph while online dating, she forms an unexpected connection with Dexter, a thoughtful poet who values honesty. As their relationship deepens, Essence must confront the truth she has hidden—and the deeper belief that she may not be enough. ESSENCE is an intimate story about identity, disability, faith, vulnerability, self-worth, and the courage to be truly seen. THE VISUAL VISION We are looking for a visual storyteller who can capture intimate performances with a cinematic, warm, emotionally grounded style. This is a character-focused film where framing, lighting, silence, expression, and visual intimacy will be essential to telling the story. PRODUCTION DETAILS Short Film — approximately 25 pages Atlanta, GA October 23–24, 2027 Two-day shoot | Primarily one location $200–$500/day, based on experience Nonunion | Independent, low-budget production RESPONSIBILITIES Collaborate with the director to develop the visual language of ESSENCE, lead camera and lighting execution during production, and work efficiently within an independent film environment. Opportunity to serve as editor during post-production is also available.
