I am an NYU alumna, documentary filmmaker. I am currently seeking a passionate and talented cinematographer to collaborate on an important documentary project currently in development and pre-production. The documentary explores mental health, suicide prevention, family trauma, and the importance of breaking generational silence. According to national statistics, approximately 1 in 4 teenagers in the United States has seriously considered or attempted suicide. Our goal is to create a film that sparks conversation, increases awareness, and helps save lives. The project is currently fiscally sponsored by the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) and is actively fundraising. While we do not yet have a dedicated cinematography budget, compensation is a priority and will be provided as funding is secured. We are looking for someone who believes in the mission and would like to help shape a meaningful documentary from the ground up. Ideal Qualifications: Experience shooting documentaries, interviews, or human-interest stories Own camera equipment is a plus but not required Strong storytelling instincts and ability to capture authentic moments Located in NYC, New Jersey, or surrounding areas Reliable, collaborative, and passionate about social impact work To Apply: Please send: Your name and location A brief introduction Links to your reel, portfolio, website, or previous work Information about your equipment (if applicable) Your typical day rate or project rate for documentary work Whether you are open to deferred compensation while the project is fundraising Any travel or equipment fees you typically charge Please be transparent about your rates and expectations. While this project is currently fundraising, I want to have open conversations from the beginning regarding future compensation so that there are no surprises for either party as the project moves forward.
