THIS IS A SOCIAL EXPERIMENT. Please note there is no pay for this. Now, on to the invitation: People cannot talk to each other today. We have traded curiosity for confirmation. We end up listening to and following those who will affirm our views, not challenge or invite discourse. We aim to uncover what makes it so difficult to hear the other side. To that end, we are creating a ZOOM BASED WEB SERIES that explores the challenges people have when talking to the "OTHER SIDE," ie liberals to MAGA, pro-life to pro-choice, pro-men to pro-women, pro-capitalism to pro-socialism, and so on. We have created a consistent structure that is fun, safe and invites playfulness. That means: ⁃ No finger pointing. ⁃ No judgments. ⁃ And no arguments. Instead, you can expect respectful, interesting and curiousity-driven dialogue. Now, on to the requirements: We are looking for a broad array of personalities and perspectives, including people of all genders, race, ethnicity and view points. If you are interested, please respond with the following: ⁃ name and city ⁃ E-mail address to contact you ⁃ Social media handles, or else pictures ⁃ A short statement of why you are interested. If you are selected for the first round, you will be sent a brief questionnaire that asks for some basic information about you, the types and sources of content you consume, and the topics that you find triggering. (Everything will be kept confidential by us.) We ask for the triggers because that is what will make the show interesting. After all, pleasant chats are boring. We all want to see what happens to us under pressure. The challenge is: can you keep your wits about you while you are dealing with somebody that disagrees??? At bottom, our structure elicits those beliefs deep within that keep us from listening to others. It will be a refreshing change to the negativity on TV right now.
