Hey there! My name is Justin, I'm an independent filmmaker and I'm currently living in the Mid-Wilshire area of Los Angeles. I have this idea for a documentary film series that aims to highlight the personal lives of Angelinos that would otherwise not have the opportunity to tell their stories. I've been living here for four years now, and I feel like I don't know many folks outside of my bubble. The lack of community bugs me, coming from New York where everyone feels connected by a shared feeling or struggle. This isn't a regular documentary where you sit in front of the camera and tell me your story directly, rather, I'd ask you to PERFORM YOUR LIFE. Go about your day as usual, and try your hardest to pretend the camera and I are not there. Then, the story will be found in the editing process. How much time and emotion you're willing to give me will vary, but the more access I have to the more personal/intimate parts of your life, the better the film will be. I would like to speak beforehand about where you are in your life, your wants, needs, desires, fears, dreams, conflicts, relationships etc, as these elements typically make the best stories. I don't want to just watch you wash dishes and fold your clothes, although that should definitely be part of it, too. If you've ever imagined yourself as the main character in your own film, this is an opportunity to see yourself as just that. I think this has the potential to be a very special project, I've been thinking about posting here for a long time, and I'd like to start talking to folks at the top of January 2026. The goal for the project would be, if possible, to submit to some small, local film festivals to gain some more credibility as an independent filmmaker, and even more than that, to get to know my neighbors. If we see this through completely, you will be credited accordingly unless you want to remain anonymous, which is completely fine as well. Given that you'd be giving me close quarters access to your personal life, nothing will be posted onto the internet or shared with the public without your permission. Although I'd love to pay you, please understand that this opportunity is more for the love of the process/art than a paid gig.
