MUST HIRE BY DECEMBER 2ND! The Kangalee Arts Ensemble, a BIPOC-led radical theater company in New York City, that fuses classical techniques, avant-garde aesthetic and radical politics -- is now hiring a Production Manager -- or capable intern -- who can assist, organize and oversee administrative duties, mailing list, press releases for print and online outlets/publications, and act as a liaison between Producer, Director and Stage Manager on occasion. THIS POSITION WILL EXPAND AND BECOME FULL TIME IN THE FALL OF 2026. Our new play is a political drama, "MY DYING CITY VOL. II" by Dennis Leroy Kangalee (As an Act of Protest, The Life & Death of Art, Henry Miller's "Smile: A Clown's Ascension," etc.) premiering January 15, 2026 at the American Theater of Actors on 54th Street. It closes January 25th, 2026. (Ten performances) The play centers on the struggle a middle-aged (Gen X) Left wing activist couple have - as they try to mourn their son's suicide...and consider the possibility that a true working-class revolution may never happen in America. The entire play is set in the NYC living room apartment, over the course of 24 hours. It subtly references aspects of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?," "Talk Radio," and "Dutchman." Kangalee Arts Ensemble is a recipient of a Venturous Theater Fund grant. We're looking for a person of any age: • With intelligence, humor and a love of progressive, radical, challenging theater. Someone who appreciates the differences between live performance and cinema. • An interest in how modern theater is addressing our current problems; someone sensitive to the zeitgeist. Knowledge of 20th Century progressive dramatic theater (Black Arts Movement, The Living Theater, The Open Theater, Albee, Kushner, Baraka, etc) is a plus, but not a prerequisite. • A love of outreach, a real social butterfly. • An ability to discuss the play in different circles, help make connections both within and without the given audience for this play. • A devotion to creative resistance, the desire to make a comment about the atrocious times we are living in. • MUST BE WELL SPOKEN, ABLE TO CONNECT AND COMMUNICATE TO ALL SORTS OF PEOPLE, AGES, GENDERS, RACES, ETC. -- AND DEVOTED TO CREATIVE RESISTANCE. CLASS IS A MUST. THIS IS MOST LIKELY A GOOD FIT FOR SOMEONE WHO IS OLD SCHOOL...OR A YOUNG PERSON WITH AN OLD SOUL. Paid position. Minimum of 3 days a week -- $250 a week base. 12/4 - 1/25.
