Looking for a practical makeup / FX artist in Los Angeles for a very small grounded sci-fi short film shoot I'm doing downtown June 4th. Need help creating one subtle neck implant / neural port prosthetic for a single brief shot involving a character connected to a futuristic digital system. Very minimal and realism-focused — not heavy horror/sci-fi makeup. This is literally for one handheld shot that we'll get downtown. I already have a handful of different micro LEDs, mainly looking for someone excited about helping fabricate and apply the piece cleanly. Shoot is extremely small and collaborative (1-day indie shoot with a skeleton crew), but the overall visual tone is cinematic, grounded and doc-centric rather than campy sci-fi. Rate: $300 total. Aesthetic references: • subtle near-future realism • emotionally grounded world-building My work: Instagram: @followtherill Portfolio: johnrobinsonirwin.com Would love to connect with someone who enjoys thoughtful practical world-building and subtle effects work. Please send previous work if interested. More interested in relevant portfolio pictures or website than any kind of resume. I know the rate is really modest for this kind of work. It's a very brief effect shot that came to me late but has become important to the emotional world-building of the piece, so I figured I'd put it out there in case there's someone who connects with the project and wants to help bring it to life.
