Hello, I'm looking to form (possibly join) a rock band with roots in prog rock and/or power metal. I have my own gear and a large soundproofed studio that could easily accommodate a five or six-piece band, though I'm looking for a five-piece, more or less. Keyboardists are highly welcome! I write music, mostly on bass guitar (I'm not a bassist, but I'm good enough on the instrument and a have working knowledge of theory, both of which allow me to get my ideas across, both sonically and verbally), and like to collaborate with other members to bring my ideas to life. Your music is of course welcome too, as long as it it's good and fits the vibe I'm looking for. Make no mistake, however, I intend to play drums in this band. Influences: Rush, Yes, King Crimson, Genesis, Dream Theater, XTC, Threshold, Haken, Opeth, The Police, Ice Nine Kills, Fleetwood Mac, Symphony X, Nightwish, Prince, Kamelot, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Madonna, Suicidal Tendencies, Huey Lewis, Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Toto, New Haven, Unto Others, Bruce Dickinson (solo stuff), The Beach Boys, The Four Seasons, Duran Duran, John Fogerty, 90s video game music (this is a big one), Yo-Yo Ma, Boowy, Oingo Boingo, Nevermore, Exodus, Anthrax, Testament, Overkill, The Dead Milkmen, Coltrane, Monk, Steve Gadd, Buddy Rich, and many more. As you can see, I have a general preferred genre, but also a very open mind. I want to make colorful music that transcends genre. High skill is good, but hard work and dedication are more preferable traits. As long as you practice your ass off and want to make the band your priority, that is enough for me. This is NOT some weekend warrior project I am looking for. This band would be my main priority and would take precedence over pretty much anything else in my life. I need the same attitude from my bandmates. Hit me up if this resonates with you. Happy to send you recordings of my playing, at your request. Let's create something special!
