I'm looking for a creative Sound Designer / Foley Artist for an independent horror short film shooting in the Los Angeles area. Sound plays a major role in the film. Much of the horror comes from what the audience hears rather than what they see, so I'm looking for someone who enjoys creating unusual, unsettling sounds from scratch. Creative Sample If you're interested in the project, I'd love to hear your interpretation of one or both of the sounds below. These are only intended to be short creative samples and do not need to be fully polished. CREATURE SOUND — 10–15 seconds The creature is mostly heard rather than seen. I'm looking for something organic and disturbing — clicking, winding, subtle throat/mouth-like textures, or something animalistic — but not a traditional monster growl or recognizable animal sound. Imagine hearing something unfamiliar approaching you in a completely dark room. You can't identify what is making the sound, but you know it's getting closer. THE FLASH — 2–5 seconds At certain moments in the film, the room is suddenly illuminated by a very brief and unnatural flash. I'm looking for a distinct sound to accompany it — sharp, strange, unsettling, and almost as though it doesn't belong in our world. I don't want a camera flash, electrical zap, laser, gunshot, or recognizable sci-fi effect. I'm looking for something that makes the audience wonder, "What was that?" Feel free to experiment. I'm intentionally leaving room for your own interpretation.
