Independent feature film shooting in the Los Angeles area is looking for a special effects makeup artist for two specific shooting days. Although this is a very low-budget production, the film features a well-known television actor, making it a good opportunity for someone looking to add a recognizable credit to their résumé. The work involves creating realistic post-fight facial trauma for a character who has been severely beaten up by several attackers. The look needs to go beyond simple bruising and blood and include facial swelling, particularly around the cheekbones and under the eyes, similar to what you might see after an intense MMA fight. This may involve prosthetic swelling pieces, gel effects, or other techniques to create a believable swollen face. There will also be a follow-up hospital scene where the character remains unconscious but in stable condition the following day, so the injury makeup will need to be maintained in a slightly stabilized form. In addition to the injury effects, the makeup artist will also handle regular on-set makeup and touch-ups for the actor on those days. Shoot dates: Monday, April 13 Saturday, April 18 Rate: $200/day Must have experience creating injury or trauma makeup (swelling, bruising, prosthetics) for narrative projects. Please send: Brief introduction Relevant experience Photos of injury or SFX work if available.
