Temporary Street Team Lead and Social Media Coordinator for NYC Theatre Production Pay: $25 per hour Schedule: Approximately 20 to 25 total hours Dates: July 20 through August 2, 2026 Location: Manhattan, primarily Midtown and Times Square An independent theatre production is seeking an energetic, organized Street Team Lead and Social Media Coordinator to promote the world premiere of Funeral of god, running July 30 through August 2 at AMT Theater in Manhattan. This is a short-term, hands-on position involving street marketing, team coordination, public engagement, video recording, and basic social media editing. The campaign will take place in three phases: 1. Poster and Postcard Distribution During the week and a half before opening, the Street Team will distribute postcards and place posters at approved businesses, theatres, rehearsal studios, coffee shops, schools, and other appropriate locations. The Lead will help map locations, organize assignments, track placements, and supervise two to three additional Street Team Members. 2. Times Square Funeral Procession On Saturday, July 25, the team will conduct a theatrical promotional procession in Times Square. The event may include a portable pop-up coffin, funeral-style music, prayer-card-inspired promotional materials, stickers, signs, and public interaction. The tone is absurdist, theatrical, intelligent, and playful. The production is not staging the burial of a deity. The lowercase "g" is intentional. The play examines the disappearance of certainty, meaning, and the reassuring belief that someone competent is supervising the universe. The Lead will coordinate the team, help direct the public-facing event, and record vertical video for social media. 3. Audience Interviews The Lead must attend all four performances between July 30 and August 2. After each performance, the Lead will conduct brief audience interviews, record reactions, and capture short testimonial videos for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other social platforms. The Lead may also assist with merchandise or other promotional activity at the theatre. Responsibilities include: Organizing and supervising a small Street Team Coordinating poster and postcard distribution Helping lead the Times Square promotional procession Recording clear vertical video Approaching members of the public and theatre audiences Conducting short audience interviews Editing basic short-form social media videos Transferring usable raw footage to the production Communicating reliably with the producer and creative team Ideal candidate: Organized, dependable, and comfortable taking charge Outgoing and able to approach strangers professionally Experienced with Instagram Reels, TikTok, or similar platforms Able to record clean, steady smartphone video Comfortable conducting short interviews Interested in theatre, performance, comedy, marketing, or live events Available for the Times Square event on Saturday, July 25 Available for all four performances from July 30 through August 2 Experience in theatre promotion, event staffing, street teams, content creation, journalism, film, or social media is helpful but not required.
