Bill show contact info The New Improved Seneca View Camera was manufactured by the Seneca Camera Manufacturing Company beginning in 1904 when it was patented and continued until approximately 1930. Designed for general viewing, home portraiture, copying and all difficult work. Constructed of mahogany with polished brass hardware and a black synthetic imitation leather bellows lined with gossamer cloth, however genuine leather bellows were optional upon request. later models had an ebony finish. Focusing was accomplished via front and back rack and pinion movements with patented double tongued bed with brass shoes. This improvement allowed for compactness and extreme rigidity during the gear movement. The front standard was designed high to avoid interference with he bellows when closing. The sliding front bed and the rising and falling front was able to be moved sufficiently to allow for the centering of the lens on a half plate to accommodate taking multiple images on one plate. The back of the camera is reversible equipped with the Seneca sliding division allowing the exposure a a part of a plate at a time
