Seeking a Black female actor with a warm, lived-in voice for a Proof-of-Concept project — Nyla Blaze: Blaze At Night. Nyla Blaze went from Disney stardom to self-destruction before she was old enough to vote. Now 29, she's fighting her way back in her Vegas/Broadway hybrid show Blaze At Night — a vulnerable, hard-earned comeback years in the making. Her voice should carry a hint of Southern charm, mixed with the subtle wear of someone who's lived hard — drinking, smoking, late nights — without sounding harsh or damaged. This is a voiceover audition only — not on camera. Please record on your phone in any format (MP3 or M4A) and reply with the file and your contact info. To get a sense of the project, here is a short Proof-of-Concept video (work in progress): https://vimeo.com/1136367351?fl=pl&fe=sh If selected, you will be asked to record one page of the material. SIDES FOR AUDITION Description: Nyla looks directly into the camera — enthusiastic but not slick; heartfelt, real, carrying a gentle trace of her Southern roots and the weight of her years in Hollywood as a Disney child star who later went solo. Character Background: Nyla Blaze went from Disney stardom to self-destruction before she was old enough to vote. Now at 29, in her Vegas/Broadway show Blaze At Night, she steps back into the spotlight — a vulnerable, hard-earned comeback years in the making. NYLA (V.O.) Hey y'all… this is your girl, Nyla Blaze. Born in Houston, but I grew up in L.A. since I was eight — Disney kid, bright lights, big dreams. Life was good… until it wasn't. My voice used to be my ticket. Then the drinking, the smoking, the late nights… I damn near lost it all — including myself. But guess what? A girl can rise again. So here I am… finding that spark, that little Southern charm still hanging on… but with the crackle of someone who's been through it… and ain't going back.
