Summer Reign | Vancouver / Remote | Short-term creative collaboration Some of basketball's best stories happen away from the scoreboard. The court someone grew up on. The coach who kept showing up. The photographer who found their people through the game. The music, clothes, friendships and places that become part of a basketball life.Summer Reign is a new basketball culture, storytelling and community brand rooted in Vancouver, with a curiosity that reaches beyond the city. We're already publishing stories and developing short films while building a community around the game. We're looking for two emerging storytellers to help shape what comes next.THE COLLABORATIONSStory Producer / Shooter You enjoy meeting people, finding an angle and bringing it to life through interviews, photography and video. Metro Vancouver-based is strongly preferred. Writer / Editor You enjoy research, asking good questions and turning interviews and discoveries into profiles, scripts, carousels, captions and other stories. Remote collaboration is possible. The roles can overlap. You don't need to do everything. Tell us where you're strongest and what you want to explore.WHAT WE'RE INTERESTED INPeople's lives through basketball. Courts and neighbourhoods. Music, fashion, sneakers, art, food and creative culture. The coaches, organizers and creators building the game. Pickup runs, competitions and gatherings. And the process of building Summer Reign itself.Vancouver is our starting community. Strong stories from elsewhere belong here too. HOW WE'LL WORK We'll start with a small, agreed story or project within an initial collaboration of up to 12 weeks. There are no prescribed weekly hours or minimum commitment. We'll build the scope around the story and your capacity.Work could become short films, photography, social stories, written features, email and eventually print. You'll work directly with founder and have room to pitch ideas and help shape an emerging editorial voice. You can expect published, credited work, opportunities to meet interesting people through basketball and space to develop your craft and portfolio. Agreed necessary project expenses will be covered. Students, recent graduates and emerging creators are welcome. Journalism, film, photography, broadcasting, communications, creative writing and strong personal work are all relevant. You don't need a long résumé or encyclopedic basketball knowledge. We care about curiosity, care with people and facts, initiative, reliability and a good eye for a story.Send us a short introduction, a few examples of your work, which role interests you and one basketball-related story you'd love to tell.
