Project Title: "Mr. Sock" Wrestling Promo Video Project Type: Fine Art Video Installation Location: Downtown Brooklyn, NY Compensation: Paid / $250 single-day shoot Submission Deadline: 10/09/2025 Video Audition Date(s): 10/10/2025, 10/11/2025, 10/12/2025 Shoot Date: Sunday, 10/26/2025 Role: [MR. SOCK] We are casting a performer to embody a cartoonishly over-the-top professional wrestling heel for a stylized fine art video piece. The work will draw inspiration from WWE-era backstage promos of the 80s/90s, channeling manic energy, exaggerated bravado, and theatrical chaos. The character is loud, unhinged, and larger than life—delivering an aggressively comedic yet intimidating monologue directly to camera. Think of a parody/homage to classic wrestling villains: shouting, pacing, breaking the fourth wall, throwing props, and leaning into absurd, alliterative insults. Performance Notes: - Must be comfortable yelling, screaming, and performing with high physical intensity. - Strong improvisational instincts are encouraged—actor should feel free to push the boundaries of volume, facial expressions, and physical gestures. - The performance should feel simultaneously threatening, humorous, and wildly exaggerated, like a mix of horror and slapstick comedy. - Experience in wrestling, theater, clowning, or physical comedy is a plus, but not required. Scene Description: The wrestler cuts a backstage promo directly into the camera, delivering a chaotic, alliterative tirade of insults towards an unseen opponent. The energy escalates until it borders on absurd, with the performer flipping between mania, mockery, and menace. Props may be used (chair, table, etc.), and physical engagement with the camera (pointing, shouting into lens) will be part of the scene. How to Apply: - Headshot and full-body photo - Short video audition: 1–2 minutes performing a loud, exaggerated monologue in the style of a wrestling promo (can be improvised). We encourage actors of all backgrounds and experience levels to apply. Immediate submissions strongly preferred due to tight schedule.
