VIDEO EDITING GIG LOOKING FOR EDITOR — QUEER LIVE PERFORMANCE / NIGHTLIFE PROMO REELS I'm looking for an editor to help create a series of short (roughly 3–5 minute) highlight reels from archival footage of Heartbeat Opera's annual drag extravaganzas in NYC. These are not traditional opera recordings. The shows are hybrid live events combining: * opera * drag / cabaret / nightlift * immersive theater * audience response * comedy / spectacle The goal is not a polished corporate sizzle reels. The goal is a highlights video that communicates some of the production's material while also conveying what the room FEELS like—alive, fun, funny, and spectacular. This is not a sizzle reel—it's not designed to sell or persuade. It is a highlights reel–it is designed the show a comprehensive but truncated glimpse of the show, with a focus on audience response. The footage already exists and is organized. Your job is not to study 3 hours of raw footage and find every possible highlight. I'm looking for someone with strong instincts on rhythm/pacing, music editing, live-event energy, comedy timing, audience-response shaping, and especially montage construction. I've started the work. I've already created: * timestamped editorial selects * structural outlines * identified standout moments * candidate lines/clips * emotional arc guidance A background in any of the following is especially useful: drag, nightlife, music concerts, immersive experience, music videos. This is probably a better fit for emerging editors, nightlife creatives, film/editing students, queer visual artists than traditional corporate or salaried editors. The first gig would likely be ONE pilot reel for a single production. Current constraints include low budget. I'm open to remote collaboration if communication is strong Please send: * reel/work samples * anything involving live performance, music, nightlife, comedy, drag, or audience energy * rates / rough pricing approach * location NYC / CT proximity is a plus but not required.
